Napoleon’s bee was one of the most important symbols of his empire. It stood for industry, efficiency and productivity and this appealed to the Emperor.
For his coronation in 1804 he wore a crimson velvet & ermine robe decorated with 300 bees embroidered in gold.
Josephine, his wife, used the bees heavily in the decoration and furnishing of their home, Château de Malmaison.
We have created our bee in tribute to the French Imperial Power.
