Joséphine is a styling concept that transcends fashion.
Our shop on the Essex/Suffolk borders reflects the philosophy of Joséphine. Based in a timber framed house, the shop combines old and new. The signature colour of turquoise features through much of the decoration bringing together a mix of traditional and contemporary ideas.
Producing homeware, accessories and giftware of the highest quality that are designed, manufactured or sourced in the UK or Western Europe. “Many of the items are designed by myself,” says Frances Lamb, the driving force of Joséphine. “And made by local craftsmen who care about the individuality of each piece.”
Drawing inspiration from the life of Empress Joséphine, wife of Napoléan. As a major patron of the arts she left an indelible mark on history.
Joséphine’s exquisite taste in décor, fashion, jewellery and the arts was much admired and adopted by the French Court. She commissioned works of the highest quality and her encouragement contributed immeasurably toward making the Consulate-Empire era so artistically innovative.
Quality, design, and presentation are key considerations in the choice of all our products and our aim is to bring back pleasure to the art of shopping.
