Introductory Hand-painted Furniture Course

Come and spend an enjoyable and interesting day at Josephine where you will learn the art of furniture painting. The shop is situated in the picturesque village of Nayland on the Suffolk/Essex borders in the Stour Valley, the heart of Constable country.

Your teacher will be Sue Nixon, who will ensure that you leave having spent a most interesting and enjoyable time.

Whilst living in the heart of French-speaking Belgium for six years, Sue learnt the fascinating art of French-style furniture painting. Scouring the many antique markets and brocantes, Sue found a passion for breathing new life into old pieces of furniture and objets d art. Now back in the UK, Sue would love to share her inspiration with others.

One day: 10am - 4pm

Pre-requisite: No previous experience necessary.

Painting techniques: Painting samples using paints and glazes. The art of antiquing and distressing painted furniture. Inspiration and advice on which items are suitable to paint.

To take home: A hand-painted item eg. Wooden lampbase.

What is included: All paints and materials, refreshments & lunch.
